The trip to Oaxaca involved a 12 hour drive through the mountains to a small pueblo that no-one had been able to reach because the bridge was out. We drove through the river and finally made it to a town that had lost over 70 percent of its homes.
The most amazing things was that the people were just so happy to see us. yes, the were thankful for the supplies we brought, but they were much more thankful for the hugs. They fed us what little they had, insisted we sleep in what was left of their homes, and they even gave us gifts.
Over and over I am amazed at the generosity and humble kindness of these people.
