The magic of the Mayan Tzolkin Day God glyphs is that they are alive.
You can draw them to life and harness their power! Think runes. It’s the same concept.
The Maya day sign glyphs are more than ancient symbols carved in stone. They are living connections to the Day Lords — the spiritual forces that move through time, nature, and our own lives.
When you draw a glyph, you’re not simply copying a picture. You’re making a direct connection with that energy. The act of drawing brings the glyph to life, allowing you to work with its gifts and guidance.
There are 20 different day gods, each with a glyph. Let me give you some examples of how you can come into alignment with and focus their energy:
To protect your home:
Put rosemary in a little bag and then hide a little piece of paper inside the bag with the rosemary. On the paper you have drawn the glyph for Ok the dog who is your protector. Hang it on your door to protect your home.
To bring abundance:
Draw the glyph for Kan the net on a piece of paper. Fold it up and put it in your wallet to call in abundance. Kan the Net is for gathering things, especially seeds. You can even draw it in yellow ink. This is the color of Kan and it is also the color of gold.
To cleanse your home from stale or unwanted energy:
Fill an empty spray bottle with natural spring or filtered water. Add a few drops of essential oils. I love rose, clove, orange, lemon, lemongrass, and sandalwood. Of course, you can use any that you like. Then draw the glyph for Kawak the Storm on a piece of pretty paper and tape it to the front of the bottle. Use it when you clean your home. I love to spray it lightly on the floor when I am sweeping, to cleanse and sweep stale energy away.
To release something that isn’t serving you:
Here we want to harness the energy of Etz'nab the obsidian knife. This is the glyph of healing. Write on a piece of paper the thing that you want to let go of. Then fold the paper and draw the glyph for Etz'nab on the outside. Speak a few words of release over the paper and burn it. Throw the ashes away outside your home.
Want to learn more about the 20 glyphs, what each one means and how you can harness their living energy?
Here are all 20 glyphs so you can see what they look like. These are taken from my own grimoire, written in pencil because writing with a pencil has more magic.... it is made from wood and comes from trees!
Below you can click the BUTTON to discover the key words that go with all the glyph AND....most importantly, links to EACH GLYPH so you can do a deeper dive to find out more about each one and how you can bring its living energy into your life!
I would love to hear how you are using them to bring your life into alignment with your dreams!
Hugs and butterflies,
